This Veteran's Opinion:
For the past 30 some od years I've had the false belief that since I was in the field for only limited times that I was not exposed to Agent Orange. Clearly today the statistics convince me other wise. It is my contention that every ndividual who spent time in country was exposed to dioxin from Agent Orange, either directly, indirectly or both.
Dioxin was in the air that we breathed as well as the food chain. Looking back I am wondering about that bread made from rice flour. I wonder where that flour was manufactured and what standards of chemical tests for contamination were required. How about those delicious little bananas? I wonder where they came from? Another question comes to mind: Were the water purification techniques in use capable of taking out the dioxin that would have surely been present in ground water? What other chemicals were some of us exposed to? This line of thought gives rise to many such questions. I have no definitive answers to these questionsor the means to seek them out.
Statistics show that many of the affects of dioxin exposure are just now showing up after 30-35 years. This is a problem that many people wish would go away. I suspect that it will in time.
As the title implies, this is only one Vet's opinion, or is it also yours? For me now all things are suspect.
